Joey's partner, Minda, picked us up from the airport in a white, four door, Toyota truck. (The same vehicle most ngo's have in Rwanda.) We met up with two of her collegues, then drove two hours to Rwinkwavu and the Partners In Health site. We spent two days at PIH, then took a mini-bus back to Kigali in order to catch a larger bus down to Burundi.

The mini bus was shorter than a YukonXL and there were 20 people in it including us with all our gear. I was amazed by how many people there were walking and riding bikes 0n both sides of the street. Rwanda has the highest population density in Africa. The drivers here come inches from clipping people; they drive fast too. Much horn use.

After a few hours on the bigger bus to Burundi, I obtained a 3 day visa at the Burundi-Rwanda border. The drive lasted about 6 hours total. I was completely amazed by the fact that the entire view in all directions along the way was composed of small agricultural plots. Never more than three feet or so in between plots. Cassava, Bananas, Coffee, Tea.
